ES Morning Update January 25th 2024
We finally got a pullback yesterday as the market was up nicely early in the day closed down just slightly into the end of the day. It’s a much clearer red close on the SPX, but it’s still what I was looking for to start to form the final top. This could be finished by this Monday… maybe even tomorrow?
I’m still thinking we could either fall shy of 5000 by a few points or pierce through it by 30-50 points. So the next few days should tell the “tale” basically. If we chop up here tomorrow and Monday then I’ll keep looking for it to setup after the FOMC next Wednesday, as they could drag this out until after it. Meaning I’ll be back looking for Friday the 2nd or Monday the 5th.
It won’t be easy if it drags out, as a big final squeeze to 5000+ would be much better to short. Chopping sideways for a week would stink as it would be hard to know for sure if it was going to still do that last squeeze or just fail and rollover at some point. It’s a process, and in the end it will just be a “best guess” on where the top is at, and when to short it.
