Does anyone else here feel like they’re the crazy one?? I met with my accountant today and casually asked her thoughts on the economy and all the craziness. Nonplussed she chuckled “It’s always crazy…” and that I just have to figure out where to invest..i.e. CDs paying well; stock market, etc. I swear sometimes I think I’m living in an alternate universe. No one I know sees what we on Greg’s site are seeing. (Thanks Greg!) No one has the slightest notion about any negative economics. I’m standing firm in my own mind but sometimes it’s hard not to start second-guessing myself. Things where I live look sooo normal (SWFL tourist area so there’s always money and activity here). But I’ve noticed the housing market here is starting to fracture – with higher inventories, prices being lowered after a shorter time on the market and some houses actually being pulled off after sitting unsold. That’s unheard of here for the last few years. Housing prices had skyrocketed selling in two weeks max. Bidding wars, too. That’s over now. My real estate friends are mystified by it but aren’t seeing the bigger picture. I’m just amazed and concerned as sadly, Americans never think we could ever hit the skids. I live in a beautiful place I look around and I see sunshine, blue skies and palm trees and it seems like nothing bad could ever happen. It’s a weird feeling when you’re the only one you know who sees smoke on the horizon. Can anyone else relate?
