Hiking: Dibbles Quarry in the Catskills
The two mile in and out hike to Dibbles Quarry in the northeastern Catskills is an enjoyable trek for folks of all ages, including children. The quarry itself offers lots to explore, including several stone thrones to sit back on and take in the magnificent views.
The hike to Dibbles Quarry begins at the Roaring Kill Trailhead located on Roaring Kill Road. Climbing from the parking area, the trail crosses two seasonal streams, and climbs gently before coming to the first trail junction with the Pecoy Notch Trail and the Mink Hollow Trail. Take the Pecoy Notch Trail which is is straight ahead/to the left, which will soon begin to climb more moderately, before leveling off and then following the same general elevation to Dibbles Quarry, which you’ll reach after a 0.75 mile hike from the trail junction. Following your time at the quarry, it’s back the way you came – descending a mile back to the trailhead.
