Rivian vehicles have been driven over 900 million cumulative miles

Rivian held its first-quarter earnings call on Tuesday, during which the company highlighted a number of milestones—including how many cumulative miles its R1T, R1S and electric delivery van (EDV) vehicles have driven.

On the first-quarter earnings call, Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe noted that the company’s electric vehicles (EVs) have been driven over 900 million cumulative miles, between the automaker’s three currently offered models.

“Our vehicles driven more than 900 million cumulative miles, and our brand awareness and market position continues to grow,” Scaringe said during the call.

Rivian also highlighted a number of other milestones achieved in Q1 during the call, including the obvious fact that it unveiled its upcoming R2 and R3 lines, and it successfully re-tooled its factory in Normal, Illinois. In addition, the automaker noted that it had 20,000 demo drivers in the first quarter, up 90 percent from the fourth quarter of 2023.

The earnings call comes as Rivian has joined much of the industry in cutting costs and laying off workers, with the company reducing headcount by one percent last month, after letting go of around 10 percent of workers in February.

Last month, Rivian also announced that it had surpassed a vehicle production milestone of 100,000 units produced. During the Q1 call held on Tuesday, Rivian also reiterated its previously-set 2024 production target of 57,000 units.
